Tigers’ upcoming WTC schedule

Bangladesh are scheduled to play 12 Tests across six series in the upcoming edition of the World Test Championship (WTC), according to the Future Tours Programme (FTP) of the ICC.

However, unlike the previous edition of WTC, Bangladesh will not have any three-match Test series this edition. The recently concluded edition of WTC had two three-Test tours scheduled for Bangladesh, but both the tours were eventually cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Bangladesh's Test championship will start with a series against Pakistan at home next November. The Tigers will then host Sri Lanka for a two-Test series in December before travelling to New Zealand at the end of that month.

Next year in March, Bangladesh will travel to South Africa before playing away to the West Indies in June-July. The Tigers' Test championship will be capped off with a home series against WTC runners-up India in November next year.

Bangladesh are also scheduled to play two Tests away to Zimbabwe in July-August and a one-off Test during their tour of Ireland in September-October next year. But those fixtures will not be a part of WTC.

England are the team that will play the most number of WTC matches with 21 Tests scheduled for Joe Root's side. India, Australia, South Africa and Pakistan will play 19, 18, 15 and 14 WTC matches respectively.

Meanwhile, holders New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka will play 14 WTC fixtures.Bangladesh finished bottom of the 2019-2021 WTC with just 20 points from one draw in seven
